Abstract. In the context provided by the title of this book, the aim of this chapter is to reflect on the importance of fostering autonomous learning of mathematics by means of available technologies, to reflect on the main issues that are relevant for that purpose now and in the coming years, and to discuss the bearing on such questions of some of the developments produced by the WebALT project.
