From the Preface:

It is a motive of great satisfaction to have been involved in Barcelona with the hosting and organization, for the first time in Europe, of the 2010 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (IEEE WCCI-2010).

One of the responsibilities was to provide participants with the papers collected from the plenary and invited speakers. The present volume contains an article for each of the five plenary lectures, and the following invited papers: two from the International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), three from the IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE) and three from the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (IEEE CEC).

We much hope that the publication of these works will become an important reference, especially among students and young researchers, for further developing the ideas on computational intelligence, old and new, discussed during the congress.
