From the MR review: "In this paper, the authors determine the intersection ring of natural compactifications of the following families of plane curves of degree d: (i) curves with an ordinary multiple point of multiplicity m > 1 and no other singularity; (ii) curves with an ordinary cusp and no other singularity; (iii) curves with two ordinary nodes and no other singularity. As an application, they prove that Pic(V_d,1) is a finite group of order 6(d-2)(d²-3d+1)." Here V_d,1 is the variety of plane curves of degree d with a sigle node as singularity.
