Software Development for Geographic and Spatial Information (DSIGE)

Elective course for UPC's Master in Computer Engineering (MEI), Master in Innovation and Research in Informatics (MIRI), and Master in Data Science (MDS).

Geographic information systems allow storing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial information about the real world. Due to the enormous amount of data that geographic software must be able to manage, it is essential to have algorithmic techniques and efficient data structures specifically designed for this type of information.
This course will present a selection of fundamental topics for the development of geographic information systems.
The selected content will be introduced in the context of real-world applications, followed by the presentation of advanced computing techniques that provide efficient solutions to these geographic problems.

Professors: Rodrigo Silveira (coordinator) and Fabian Klute.
